Cruz and Buttermilk

Along with being a great athlete, Cruz has an exceptional mind. He is always a complete gentleman with a laid back attitude and a willingness to be trained and to perform. We are confident that all these traits along with his magnificent color genes will be passed on to his foals. The first foal crop came in spring 2007. Cruz will be standing to outside mares at Mountaintop Ranch during the breeding season of 2008. Mountaintop Ranch artificially inseminates mares in their Equine Training and Breeding facility. They will transport cooled semen from Cruz and they have had a 95% conception rate from their senior stallion A Classic Cody.
Cruz is a registered breeding stallion in the Quarter Horse, Paint and Buckskin registries.Thoroughbreds, Warmbloods and Nonregisterd Mares welcome. Breeding contracts with a stallion flyer will be sent out upon request.

This drop dead beautiful stallion is the son of A Classic Cody, who is from the outstanding line of the athletic Cody reiners. The list includes the late Great Hall of Fame Sire Joe Cody (Great Grandsire), and 5 times Top Ten World Qualifier in reining and Working Cow Horse Corona Cody (Grandsire).
Cruz’s dam Smokys Lightning Hot (Buttermilk) was 1999 Virginia AQHA Reining Champion. She has earned a Performance Register of Merit, and 6 performance wins in very limited showing. She was sired by Smokys Gray who earned 185 performance points, 1 AQHA Championship, 31 Grand Championships and 19 Reserve Championships. Smokys Grey offspring have earned $173,011 in the AQHA incentive fund, $5,403 NRHA and $19,805 AQHA World Show. It is no surprise that Buttermilk has proven herself to be a superior brood mare producing outstanding performance prospects.
